This is a great place to eat Mexican food. We have eaten here many times and gave always had a great time. I recommend the tacos or the nachos. My favorite meats are the barbacoa, lengua, and the shredded beef. The waitstaff is friendly and courteous. You should give this place a try if you like authentic style Mexican food.

I totally don't get it when people say "this is the only authentic Mexican restaurant in OKC" or "this is the most authentic Mexican in OKC." It's almost never Hispanic Yelpers that leave those comments either. Have you gone down to the Hispanic neighborhood in OKC and eaten at every one of those awesome restaurants? Dude, that's a lot of spankin' good restaurants. That being said, this place is good for an occasional trip but not something I would drive across town for. The reviews had me believing that this place was as awesome as bars of gold being sold for half price. While good, it's just overhyped. Womp womppp... Debbie Downer over here. The chips and salsa here are yummmm, however. Chips are thin and crisp, and the salsa is just packed with freshness. I ordered the huevos rancheros, and the eggs were cooked hard and rubbery. The sauce that the vegetables were served in wasn't tasty either. If I was at the outlet mall, I would possibly come back to give their tacos a try, but it's hard to go back after a fool-me-once....

Take a little trip to the southwest side of OKC for this delicious gem! Tacos Don Nacho is definitely worth the 15 minute drive and the line is usually out the door at lunch time. The street tacos are great and come with all of the fixin's (onion, cilantro and lime). I've also had the enchilada and the wet burrito platter. I love going to this place because the people who work there are nice, the food comes out quick, and I've never had a bad experience. The parking lot is a little small, but I'll deal with it for the cheap, delicious food!

This fast casual restaurant is a bit out of the way (maybe close to the airport?) but not right in town. But it is worth the drive! You order at the counter and take a seat and they bring your food to you. My wife and I both ate (and had plenty of food) for $16. The Carne asada burrito is really good, and filled with a ton of meat, onions and cilantro. It is topped with a sauce (not sure what it is, but it's good) and some guacamole. The guacamole didn't seem homemade, but wasn't bad. The refried beans were very good, and we're not a paste, they had texture. The staff was friendly and the place was very clean. I would definitely go back!

  • Chris C.

I've only tried the wet burrito and their carne asada tacos, but washed it all down with their tasty Horchata. If that's not your style, go for the mexican Apple Soda, Mexican Coca Cola or one of their many flavors of Jarritos or cerveza! The tacos are $1.40 a piece and their hot sauce is excellent and on the spicy side. At lunch or dinner time, be prepared to stand in line to order and find a place to sit.

Coming from California I know what a typical Mexican food restaurant should have, and this place definently has it all! This modest looking building south of the 40 interstate near Will Rogers Airport has all the classics of traditional Mexican food, soft tortilla (not crispy hard shell) tacos with your choice of meat (HIGHLY recommend carnitas), Pazole (soup), and horchata (cinnamon rice drink), it's all here! Price is not bad either! You can get dinner plates for the $8-12 range, the decor of the building is a bit to be desired however it seems this is a new establishment and they are working on it In a hurry or on the go? No need to fear! The Don gots you covered with a drive thru! ;) :) This restaurant is a breathe of fresh air as part of my heritage being Mexican, moving to Oklahoma City I was afraid I would not find traditional Mexican food here, however the Don got's it covered! Want traditional Mexican food! Come to Tacos Don Nacho!

This little restaurant gets better and better. Had the carne asada burrito which was delicious. I also had some of my wife's Chile verde plate. The sauce was too hot for her but perfect for me. I love that slow burn. Rice and beans were good as well. Highly recommend! :)

  • Michael H.

Get here early for lunch! They're typically fairly busy at lunch and for good reason. Try the Taco Rico plate or enchiladas...they are extremely good. Seating is limited, but well worth a short wait to eat in or to go.

  • Matt K.

Recently went for 1hr lunch with coworkers at 11:15 got there, ate in 5 min to get back by 12. But the food is wonderful. Menu is intimidating. Nice to have a Mexican food knowledge going into this place. Horchata was refreshing. Chips and salsa brought to you while you wait. Their salsa is spicy, runny, but flavor packed! Had the carne asada wet burrito. Wolfed it down. Friend got 4 tacos each 1 diff; asada, carnitas, barbacoa and lengua (beef tounge). He's from Cajun country and approved this place, so do I!

  • George W.

Great Mexican, reminds me of living in South Texas again. I typically order a-la-carte. I cannot actually tell you if their plates are any good, but I hear good things. CAN GET VERY CROWDED.

    (3)
  • Tony P.

This is by far the best Mexican food in OKC! *Warning* this is not tex- mex and they do not have cheese sauce so if you are looking for that go somewhere else. If you want consistent good Mexican dishes go to the "Don" I recommend the Taco Rico plate!

    (5)
  • Kenn T.

Family Run, Clean, very tasty food! What more could you ask for of a quick Mexican Restaurant. I have rarely been disappointed and I eat here often. One warning: the FAA has invaded this place at Lunch time so expect it to be crowded. Taco Don and his brother Nacho are some of the nicest people you could meet! Mr. Wyoming

From the outside looking in, Tacos Don Nacho doesn't look like anything spectacular - a slight variation of a Taco Bell or even a Taco Bueno in fact. But, that's about where the comparisons end: the cosmetics. At it's core, Tacos Don Nacho is authentic Mexican food done right. Don't let the drive-through window throw you off, there's just such a demand at the lunch hour, I'm sure this is the only way they could attempt to accommodate all the hungry customers. The interior is nothing fancy, but it's clean. Yes, that's right, a clean Mexican restaurant - once thought to be an oxymoron, is no longer so. Despite the lunch crowd, they do a great job of getting your order out to you in a timely manner, clearly they've had some practice - annnd it doesn't hurt that you have chips and salsa to munch on while you wait. I'm a fan of salsa. I'm a fan of their salsa. Case closed. The only dish I've tried so far is the Camarones y Filete (shrimp and fish filet). Typically I'm hesitant to try the seafood at Mexican restaurants because it tends to be an afterthought, and in turn executed horribly (yes, that's a reference to you directly Abel's). But, it would appear that is not the case at Tacos Don Nacho. The shrimp were large, and not overcooked. They had a great charred / smokey, grilled flavor to them, and same goes for the fish filet as well: perfectly tender, smokey goodness. If I had to nitpick, I'd say they could go a little easy on the butter (sorry Paula Deen - I'm not lookin' for a heart attack before age 30) - but that's really my only tiny complaint. The mexican rice and the refried beans were some of the best I've had as well. It's those tiny details that you come to appreciate when you have quality Mexican cuisine. So yeah, nothing fancy here, just awesome, authentic Mexican food that won't let you down - or let you fit into that summer swimsuit for that matter. Overall Grade: A-

Having moved here from South Texas, I have been spoiled to awesome Mexican Food and could fine a place that had that authentic quality!!!! I found it here!!!! They have the best food around!!!! Reminds me of being home!!!! From their menudo to their Lengua Tacos, everything on their menu is AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • Katie W.

Since moving to Oklahoma from Texas, my husband and I have not found a better place for authentic Mexican food. I love their tortas. Their meat selection surpasses the usual "beef, chicken, fajita" selection. They have al pastor, cabeza, lingua, barbacoa, carne guisada, and carnitas to name a few. I've tried them all and they're all delicious. Oh yeah, and if you're not up to the meats I listed, there are still the same old chicken, beef, and fajita meats to pick from.

  • Greg S.

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, Tacos Don Nacho is the best place to get it in the OKC metro area. The tacos (by default soft) are great. Pretty much everyone I get to try the al pastor meat agrees it's the best taco meat they've ever had. The prices are great; the food is great; the owner and employees are accommodating and very friendly. 5 out of 5

I was a bit skeptical.... Turns out the food was wonderful & authentic & reasonably priced. Anyone who lives in this area knows how difficult it is to find really good Mexican food without having to drive quite a bit. Would definitely recommend! I'm posting pics of menu as well.... I was also surprised to see they had breakfast.

  • Isaac A.

This is another great Mexican food restaurant. Very close to authentic and homemade. The salsa has great flavor and the ingredients taste fresh. I can honestly say that every item on their menu is my favorite. Can't decide on just one. I come to OKC for training and I look forward to eating here.

  • Matt H.

I tried this place twice based on its 5 star rating. Both times I was left wanting more. Especially wanting more taste (both the wet burrito and chicken taco dinner). The refried beans were very runny, food was bland and the price was on the north side of reasonable. I am no stranger to taquerias and this one was just ok at best.

  • Nina B.

I kept hearing people talk about this place so I decided to give it a try. The place was a packed house during lunch. We had to wait to get seats. They had a wide variet on their menu. My friends ordered fish tacos, and nachos. I ordered chicken and beef tacos. Everything was made to order and brought to our table. The service was fast and friendly. The prices were even better. Each taco I ordered was $1.30 and there was no mystery meat involved. If you're in the area for something fast and yummy, check it out.

Great Mexican food for an affordable price. Quick service even during lunch, get there early though seating is limited

Best Mexican I've found anywhere. Large portions of good food. Trying to figure out a way to bring this place back to NH with me when I leave.

  • Ryan V.

I visit OKC frequently for work and I always make it a point to stop here at least once while visiting. The food is good for the price. If you live in some of the border states, this restaurant may not meet your expectations for mexican food, but is the best I've tried in the OKC metro area thus far. This place can busy during lunch.

  • Robert W.

This week was topped of with a visit to Tacos Don Nacho. The food was outstanding and the service was better than any other restaurant I visited during my stay in OKC. Don's miss out during your stay. Well work the drive from the downtown area.

I get the number one every time. It's sad to say I love it so I just dont want to try anything else. Really good food, service is hectic but good.

  • Kevin L.

Always busy, this is a classic Mexican restaurant that doesn't disappoint! This was my first visit but the 4 locals I was with highly recommended it. Huge portions, free tortilla chips, and great food, make it a nice place to grab lunch or dinner. The salsa was great, my burrito plate was packed full of beef, and the rice and beans tastes home made, not out of a can. 5 of us guys are for $56, a great deal as we were all stuffed when we left.

  • Hate O.

Pretty good food. Clean place. Decent price. Would go very often if I lived closer.

Still my favorite Mexican restaurant. the quality is just as good as it was when they opened.

    (5)
  • Michael L.

Green enchalladas did not disappoint , neither did the tacos (look close on the menu - kinda hiding), nor the prices Why is food so cheap here compared to DFW?? Easy to find, close to the airport for a taco run on the way outta town on Thursdays. Nice clean place.

    (4)
  • Scott I.

This has become my go to Mexican restaurant. With the quality of Teds going downhill in the last year or so I needed a new place. Tacos Don Nachos delivers. Try the a Taco Rico and you won't be disappointed.

  • John S.

Where do I even begin with this Mexican gem. Clean environment and friendly service, best chips and salsa and the food. Omg burritos and carnie asadas!!

    (5)
  • Mark J.

So good. Best Mexican food in OKC. It's always packed at lunch time, so come early. It's no frills service. Order at the counter, seat yourself kind of place. The food is just incredible.

  • John M.

Had the street tacos and they were Muy Sabroso!!! Definitely will come back for Mas!!! The menu looked great and the service was fast!!! The salsa was bombdelicious!!!

With so many Tex-Mex places around it is refreshing to find So/Cal Mexican restaurant. There is a big difference. Although the wet burrito is great try the fish and shrimp or the Shrimp soup. Very good and authentic.

    (4)
  • Jason S.

Excellent scratch tex-mex, as well as many authentic dishes. Yes, there are dozens of fantastic small, family-owned uber-traditional/authentic places in OKC if you just look, but this is a huge step in the right direction for those moving away from OTB vanilla corporate tex-mex. Drive thru is call-ahead only, so keep that in mind.

    (4)
  • Jesse L.

Great authentic Mexican food, but not always guaranteed a seat. I love the location, just think they have out grown it. Kudos to them for that.

    (4)
  • Jill G.

Great little place way out in no where. Very industrial. We almost turned around because we didn't figure a restaurant would be way out there but we came across it. Very friendly staff and I love the visual menu option. The beef was chewy but tasty the chicken was fantastic. They serve fresh salsa and chips that are thin as paper and so tasty. I would totally recommend it if you're in the area not sure I would make the drive again if I wasn't.

    (4)
  • Tom H.

Great place for quick take out Mex food. Good breakfast, guac, salsa, chips, and tortas. Tons of great Mexico food in the city. For a week night call in this place works great. You can pick up your food through the drive through. Way better than any fast food mex spots.

    (3)
  • Travis S.

Seriously one of the best Mexican restaurants in OKC. Simply amazing authentic Mexican food!

    (4)
  • Rebecca Z.

Great chips - very light and crisp - and salsa with more of a kick than I expected! Had the especial 3 tacos (asado, lengua and carne) and they were good too.

    (4)
  • Cindy D.

I ordered the Especial 3 Tacos for me and quesadilla for Bill. There is a large crowd and we have to wait for our food. Don't come at rush and be on a hurry. Waited 30 min. But it was worth it. I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture. Excellent food. You' ll love it if you can bear the wait.

    (5)
  • Richard S.

Don't go on Thursday for lunch unless you want to wait in line. Well actually your going to wait in line pretty much any day. First introduced to Tacos Don Nacho 2 years ago and I try to ensure every trip to OKC, I visit at least once. Good no frills Mexican food. Smaller size restaurant but I've never had a problem finding a place to sit with my group. I haven't tried much past the 3 Tacos Especial. Once you find something delicious why change it? I will continue to visit this Gem when I visit OKC. Try this place! You won't be disappointed.

    (4)
  • Royce L.

Great great Mexican food. Service is good and fast. The tacos and enchiladas and carne Asada plate are all very good. Best place in this southern half of okc for sure

    (5)
  • Jason B.

I was recommended this place by my teacher. The restaurant building itself seemed a little dirty but the food definitely made up for that. I had the taco salad and I enjoyed it very much. The food was very good and it came with guacamole, which not a lot of taco places add in for free. By the time I left, the line to order was pretty long, so it was clear that this place was a popular place to go to. Great food and service.

    (4)
  • Kristen H.

Hands down my favorite restaurant salsa is found at this unassuming tex me gem. It's usually packed in the evenings, however I usually call in my order and pick it up at the drive thru. The food is very moderately priced and very tastey.

    (4)
  • Nat C.

Says it is California style. Not even close. Still Oklahoma style. No seasonings. Everything is bland. Had carne asada burrito. Meat had absolutely no seasoning on it. Not even salt. Meat tasted old, what meat there was. Maybe 3 tablespoons of meat. Mostly rice. They forgot to put the beans on it. Not worth $10 per person. Please help me find a Mexican restaurant in okc that doesn't cater to the senior crowd that hates seasoning. I'm about to give up on Mexican food in okc. SEASONING IS GOOD. MEXICAN FOOD IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE BLAND!!!!!!!

    (2)
  • Judy K.

Best chili relleno in town!! Service is great and very reasonably priced! I would go there more often if it were closer to home!

    (5)
  • Jay Cee N.

The only authentic Mexican food in Oklahoma City! That's right... It's not Tex-Mex like every other so-called Mexican restaurant is in the city. The food is always on point and service is excellent! Compared to any other restaurant in the area, I could tell this was going to be authentic Mexican food because Mexicans actually eat there... And they have Mexicans in the kitchen! If you are expecting Oklahoma Mexican food, a.k.a. Tex-Mex... You probably will not find what you are looking for.

    (5)
  • Chris L.

AWESOME place to eat! It appears to be a small Mom & Pop operation that has become a favorite of FAA employees working nearby. Plan accordingly! The food is great and so is the service!

    (4)
  • Anthony L.

Very good authentic Mexican food! Rico plate is my favorite!

    (5)
  • Cesar B.

Really good tacos! I had the taco plate, and added one more for a total of 4 tacos with rice and beans. I had Pastor, Carne Asada, Carnitas and Barbacoa. They were all super tasty and well served.

    (4)
  • Tom O.

A really nice clean place with really good authentic food and a friendly staff. I'll hit it for lunch or take an out of town business guest when possible. Tried several things on the menu and all have been keepers! With the effects of the price of oil being down the lunch line isn't like it was so don't be afraid to go and enjoy.

AMAZING. My cousin and I were traveling through Oaklahoma on a cross country road trip when we yelped this place. I didn't think we would actually find a good review for Mexican food in this state but go figure this place popped up. I'm happy it did. It saved our lives. The all meat carnita burrito was delicious, the chips and salsa was spot on, my cousins flautas was definitely the shit and I judge every Mexican place on it's rice which is was not as good as my mamas (no ones is) but it was definitely good stuff. Clean place, even the bathrooms were clean. Gotta check it out.

  • Steve A.

My favorite Mexican Restaurant. The food is great. Prices are incredibly cheap. Chips always hot. Salsa both green and red are perfect. Authentic Mexican food. We usually order off the ala carte menu. The green sauce on the enchilada and the chili rellano is fantastic. Order at the counter. Very clean too.

    (5)
  • Karthik R.

Awesome authentic mexican food. Loved the tacos, chile relleno. Salasa and chips are fresh and awesome. Will visit again whenever in OKC.

we finally found a Mexican restaurant who's owners are from California. The food are not TexMex and there dishes are spot on delicious similar to most of the California authentic Mexican restaurant. If you don't know what I am talking about check them out. Clean, fast service, and busy - excellent food and highly recommended.

  • A'shay I.

My fiance and I are from california, just passing through Oklahoma... We stopped here after reading some reviews. The food is excellent, service is excellent, chips and salsa were perfect! Last but not least, the cold beer mugs and modelo was awesome! However, if only their tortillas were homemade- they would be on point! They definitely need more advertising outside and more mexican decor inside. The French bistro like paintings on the walls don't fit in at all. Nonetheless, wonderful meal and friendly service!

This restaurant was located in a very odd neighborhood. It's surrounded by a bunch of factories and large warehouses so I imagine most of their customers are nearby workers. The menu contained a lot of entrees that aren't normally at most Mexican restaurants. Chips and salsa are complimentary even though this is not your typical sit down restaurant bc you order at the counter. I didn't like the salsa. It was too bland and had no flavor. Prices were pretty cheap. For a couple of tamales, rice, beans, and a drink, my total was only $10 plus some change. Their horchata was great! It's hard to find good horchata around here but theirs was top notch. You get free refills and they'll even give you a to go cup to take with you. We got our food really fast - under 10 mins. Employees were nice and the dining room was very clean. If I'm ever in the area again, this is where I'll be eating!

I've been here several times now, not necessarily going out of my way since I don't live too far. This still remains one of my top choices. Perhaps one of my favorite things about this place is that you can tell everything is made fresh. The salsa will vary in chunkiness and spiciness every time we go, showing that it's actually homemade and not from a jar. The chips are always warm and crisp. I tend to stick with the carnitas tacos, and the seasonings will also vary. It's never spicy, but it's like how "Mom" always used to cook - a bit of this, a bit of that...nothing actually measured out. For that, it feels more like Mexican homecooking. And lately I've become obsessed with their melon agua fresca, which is basically liquid cantaloupe. My husband and I have always appreciated great Mexican food, so this is a big hit for both of us. Bonus that they offer cheeseburger and fries for picky eaters (or at least for those expecting something more along the Tex-Mex lines). This goes over well with my two young children who are all about the cheeseburger/fries stage right now. I also love that there is a drive-thru for those evenings when we want some good food but don't feel like battling the kids on how "this time it's Mama & Daddy's choice." It's still no frills. You just place your order and wait and everything is brought out relatively quickly. As I stated before, this is not the most perfect Mexican restaurant ever. Last time I was there, the carnitas actually were a bit underseasoned (though still amazingly tender) and they didn't add any lime wedges which they usually do for my meal. Enough to drop it a star? No. It was only once and the other times have been wonderful. Like I said, it's more like Mexican homecooking to me with how everything is prepared. It brings back many childhood memories for me of my grandmother spending time in the kitchen cooking up elaborate Bolivian meals, or my other step-grandmother working on her Puerto Rican food...both native to those countries. The quality of their cooking was always amazing while the flavors might sometimes vary because nothing was ever measured. On a side note, I AM Hispanic and grew up on authentic food. I don't think people should have to prove their ethnicity to have their reviews taken seriously, but apparently others feel that some of what we say isn't credible simply because our pictures don't show dark skin and dark hair. Not that being Hispanic is a requirement to be able to discern good food (look at your fellow Oklahoman Rick Bayless who is now a world renowned chef specializing in Mexican food). But I digress. I was just pointing out in my previous review that a LOT, if not most, of the Oklahoma "Mexican" restaurants cater to the non-Mexicans. That's not to say there are no other authentic restaurants, because there are. But this happens to be my favorite.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
